Mt. Nebo FFA High Schoolers Competing at Deseret Peak

Deseret Peak invitation, the last practice contest for FFA students before Utah FFA’s State Contest. Mt.Nebo FFA chapter’s students piled onto the bus on March 29th at 6:00 to head off to this contest. Juab High Schoolers were competing in seven events: Ag. Mechanics, Meat Evaluation, Food Science, Floriculture, Livestock Judging, Horse Judging, and Vet Science. 

      FFA’s teams did well. The Ag Mechanics team placed 10th. The Meats team took 7th place. The Vet Science team took 7th place. The Horse Evaluation team placed 16th. And Mt. Nebo’s Livestock team earned third place.

      Among the teams, Some Juab Students excelled in their individual scores. Bodie Wright ranked as the 20th highest individual in Meat evaluation. In Food Science, Kaci Woodland ranked 17th. Coming in with beginners luck, Morgan Loveless ranked 5th highest in floriculture. Chase Poulsen placed 10th in Livestock Judging. In Vet Science KaBree Smith placed 16th and Karissa Taylor placed 14th.

      On the bus ride back, Mr. Burton held discussions with all the teams, reviewing their performance and future practicing plans. Students will continue to work hard for the upcoming State FFA contest.
