2023 Sterling Scholar Triumph at Snow College

On Monday March 20th, Juab’s sterling scholars took their portfolios to their competition at Snow College. After being elected last year, these select few have been working on their portfolios since the beginning of the school year. The battle was tough and we have some winners and runner ups in their categories.

Our 1st place winners are Quenna Yuan for General Scholarship and Vashti Corey for Visual Arts. They went into that competition and dominated, earning their rightful place at the top.

Quenna’s portfolio was all the awards she received from our school, the state, and FBLA competitions. She did a language program with the US Department of State and Senior Representative for Juab’s Super Council. For leadership, she was President of NHS, Vice President of FBLA, Vice President of FCCLA, Secretary of Speech and Debate, and Section Leader in Orchestra. For citizenship, she included Robbie’s Hope Ambassador, Luv Michael Volunteer, Summer School/ACT Tutor, Nephi Library Youth Council, and Community Volunteer.

Although they didn’t win, they still came out 2nd best in the region. Juab’s runner ups are: Haylie Winn for English and Literature, Sam Todd for Social Science, Asher Kretchmer for Computer and Information Technology, James Rosenbeck for Science, and Joseph Peterson for World Languages.

Sterling Scholar is an amazing opportunity to compete and perform as the very best, in a category, in our school for the chance to win the grand prize of $2,500, medals, certificates, and full tuition to any school in the state of Utah. Sterling Scholar is a senior competition in which you submit a portfolio that you work on all senior year. You get chosen for it your junior year after going against others in your grade who want to do the same category. It is a great opportunity to show your talents and knowledge and pit it against others in the region to come out on top.
