Mt.Nebo FFA Starting the Year off With a Lively Opening Social

On August 24, Juab High’s Mt. Nebo FFA chapter held their 2022-23 opening social to welcome in new members and welcome back returning ones. The event started at 7:00 pm by the vocational building doors.

The social kicked off with Juab High’s FFA advisor, Mr. Burton, calling for everyone’s attention. He passed out the FFA schedule for the 2022-23 school year. After briefly discussing the schedule, Madison Stanley introduced the new FFA officers and some of the chairmen: Brylee Greenhalgh as President, Karissa Taylor as Vice President, Morgan Loveless as Secretary, Kandace Green as reporter, and Duncan Pay as Treasurer. The sentinel, Kabree Smith, wasn’t able to make it.

When all of that was done, everyone was set free to participate in the activities. Food was served outside. People lined up to choose from cookies, chips, salad, and pork tenderloin. Yard games were set up including roping, spike ball, and corn hole. People gathered around as they watched Bodie Wright and Staten Shepherd dominate at corn hole.

Mr. Burton also participated, joining a few of his students in a game of spike ball before taking a break to judge his students as they began playing music. After a few group dances, people broke off into smaller dance groups. Some of them spent their time trying to teach their friends how to swing dance, while others just danced by themselves.

As the sun began to set, the line dances began with even more people joining in. At 8:40, the social came to an end with one last dance and a reminder from Burton to clean up any trash.
