Juab’s Welding Team brings the heat at Bridgerland!

Juab’s high school welding students had a wonderful opportunity to attend Bridgerland Weld-Expo on Apr 17, 2025, at 7 am! Bridgerlands Weld Expo is the place where schools will bring the best of the best. The schools that choose to compete are only allowed to bring 5 students to compete. Students will do a written test and a weld coupon and have a chance to get certified! So natural schools from other states will bring their students to compete and to attend the job fair.

Bridgerland Weld-Expo, hosted by Bridgerland Technical College in Logan, Utah, is a premier event celebrating welding craftsmanship and education. This annual expo showcases the skills of students and professionals through live demonstrations, competitions, and hands-on activities. Participants engage in various welding processes, including gas metal arc welding (GMAW) and shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), highlighting the versatility and precision of the trade. The event also features a high school student art contest, fostering creativity and innovation among young welders. By bridging education and industry, the Weld Expo plays a crucial role in promoting welding as a viable and dynamic career path.

And this year’s students definitely brought their A-game!

Juab definitely will be competing next year; Mr. Weeks says, “This is the place where the best of the best go to compete; we will most definitely compete next year.” This confirms Juab plans on bringing their students to Bridgerland next year!

Taft Sherwood placed 12th this year at the Weld-Expo, meaning he is in the top 12 in the state! Taft had a great time and can’t wait to compete next year!

Juab can’t wait for next year’s Weld-Expo! To challenge the GMAW and SMAW skills, explore future careers, and get the chance to be certified!
