The State Drama Journey: A Story of Effort, Not Trophies
On April 11th, our drama team left for their overnight trip up to Salt Lake for the state drama competition.
The first day was for our musical theater team—Alice Bingham and Reagan Millet—and pantomime—Ella Lake and Zoey Stoker, Kirsten Coray and Jacob Davis, and Chloe Joos. The events were held at Judge Memorial and lasted till 9pm. Although we didn’t win, we got pretty close! All of the musical theater acts got Medals of Superiority. Which means they got above 65 points.
After the long day, they all went to the hotel and made a small pit stop at Maverick for snacks. It was a long night full of fun and games before having a great complimentary breakfast in the morning.
Saturday was for the monologues at Juan Diego. Humorous—Alice Bingham, Chloe Joos, and Mathew Ranyor. Dramatic—Rory Allred and Rachel German. This time, they got even closer, with Rory Allred making it to medals! She ended up placing 7th overall.
“I am especially proud of how you (drama team) all performed! You are all amazing, and it was my absolute privilege to be your coach this season, so thank you!” – Mr. Morgan
Next year, the team is planning to start earlier this year so they can fit in a one-act and add more people to each event. If you’re interested in joining, Mr. Morgan is interested in doing an advanced drama class so they can practice during school hours.
