The Spirit of Disneyland

This year the JHS Choir got an amazing opportunity for their class trip. Usually they just go to Lagoon and have a fun day, but this year they got to spend two days at Disneyland! It was a long 10 hour bus drive but the students were excited. On the way to California, the choir got to stop in Las Vegas and got to do a clinic with the UNLV choir director Joseph Svendsen. He gave amazing advice on the choir’s competition songs and helped them improve.

Until 2:30pm on the first day at Disneyland, the students were free to enjoy themselves and ride any attractions they pleased. After 2:30pm, everyone had to assemble, and Mrs. Rowley, the choir teacher, took some group photos. After that, the class went backstage and participated in an entertaining workshop where they recorded Disney movie songs, which were then played over the animations so the students could hear their voices in well-known films like Tangled, Moana, and The Nightmare Before Christmas.

On the second day the students got to spend their full 14 hour day in Disneyland or California Adventure. It was a long exhausting day and they got back to the hotel at 10:30pm. Even though they got home so late, they had to get up really early the next day so they didn’t get home too late. Unfortunately, while they were headed home, they got stuck in traffic which added 4 hours to their trip and they got home at 3am. “I had a blast and it was so fun hanging out with all my friends for 4 days.” Says Rory Allred, a junior in the choir.
