Mining into A Minecraft Movie

After years of anticipation, the long-awaited A Minecraft Movie was finally released on April 4th. But is it worth seeing?

The movie follows Natalie and Henry, two kids struggling to adjust to life after their mother’s passing. With the help of their neighbor, Dawn, and Garrett, the owner of the local gaming store, Game Over World, they embark on an adventure. Together, they discover a cube that transports them into the world of Minecraft. Their goal is to find the lost cube and return home, with help from Steve.

While the movie’s plot wasn’t particularly strong and the characters felt somewhat one-dimensional, it still managed to entertain. The film evokes a strong sense of nostalgia, featuring cameos from popular Minecraft content creators and even the game’s original creators.

Though the movie itself may not be that funny, the memes surrounding it are. Entire theaters erupting with chants of “Chicken Jockey” and “I am Steve” highlight the fun that the community brings to the experience. If you’re a fan of Minecraft, the community vibe is definitely what makes this movie enjoyable.

If you’re looking for a family-friendly film to take your kids to, or you’re an older fan eager to relive your childhood memories, *A Minecraft Movie* is a solid choice.

And to make the experience even better, you’ll want to watch it at a great theater. That’s why we at the Clarion are proud to be supported by Salt Creek Cinemas! Located in Nephi, Salt Creek Cinema is the local theater where many of Juab’s students work, so you’re sure to see some familiar faces with a smile.
