Kickoff for Juab Boys Soccer

On Monday, February 4th the Juab boys soccer team had their tryouts for the season. There were 29 kids in total who tried out. It was an eventful tryout, where each kid displayed their strengths and weaknesses on the pitch. Each kid is trying to earn a spot on Varsity or Varsity Reserve.

The next morning, the roster was posted in Mr. Montoya’s room. The roster showed who made the team, who made Varsity or JV, and captains for the season. In total all the kids who tried out made the team. There are 29 kids on the roster for the 2024-2025 Juab boys soccer team. There were two captains selected for Varsity and two selected for JV. There is still a chance for someone to earn and prove that they should be the third captain.

The captains for Varsity are Ethan Roundy and Morgan Peay. The two Captains for JV are Carter Keen And Colby Allred. We asked Ethan, one of the captains on Varsity, how he thinks our season will look like. He said, “I believe our season will be successful if we keep chasing our goals we have set for the season and not lose focus on those goals.” The goals the entire soccer team has set was, build the culture for years to come, and keep the brotherhood that they have formed.

Their first game is on March 4th at home, against Richfield. Varsity is at 4pm, and JV is at 5:30 right after varsity. They have full confidence in themselves and that they are going to beat Richfield in the first game and have a great start to the season. They also play Delta on March 5th at home. Same times as the game before. We asked Chris Montoya, one of the coaches, how he feels about Delta and how he thinks we will do. He said, “Delta is going to be a tough physical game that is going to come to one or two goals. But I believe we will come out on top and get another win to the season.”
