Juab Celebrates the Arts

On February 10th, all of Nehpi came together to celebrate the our local artists. With amazing performances from the JHS Concert Choir, JHS Musical Theater, Mona and Nebo Elementary Choir, and Lisa’s Dance and so many more.

The driving force behind this celebration is Mrs. Carter, a former art teacher here, at Juab High School. Schools and those in the community were invited to show off their skills. Performances began around six that night. It began with a bang as Nebo Dance Academy took to the floor, and ended with a beautiful explosion of sound from the Nephi City Orchestra.

The performances were split into two sessions, the first, beginning at six, and the second, beginning at seven fifteen. The crowd was endlessly entertained with cheers from Juab’s cheer team, to a pantomime from Zoey Stoker and Ella Lake. Performance ended around eight o’clock. Meanwhile, an art show took place in the cafeteria, featuring local artists. With Jamie Gilbert doing live drawings.

Art is a beautiful form of self expression. It can be seen in the form of drawing, writing, singing, even acting. It’s a way to be seen, and in a school full of sports, that’s something quite rare for these students. It was also a fundraiser for Courage for Cancer. An amazing event supporting an amazing cause. There was an amazing art gallery full of local artists.
