Juab’s First Snowcoming
Juab High School’s Snowcoming dance was January 25, 2025, this year. This year was our school’s first time hosting Snowcoming at our school, and from what I have heard, a lot of people liked this new dance. This new dance was designed to be a winter homecoming. However, because the dance was in winter, most of the girls elected to wear longer dresses. The guys were directed to wear nice church-type clothes or suits like they would for homecoming.
Many people are wondering if the school will keep Snowcoming around next year. Would you, as a student, like to keep snow coming or have fewer dances? I know some people were saying our school has too many dances, which in some ways we do. We basically have a dance every single month of the school year, which is two more dances than there usually are. Because there are so many dances, it is hard for our school board to keep up with money-wise and organizationally. The rumor is that there may be a vote you can participate in to get feedback on whether we should keep the dances we have or limit some or maybe even add some.
We have 7 dances a school year, and most schools only have 4. 3/7 of these dances are girls, and 4/7 are boys. Do we think that we should make the girls ask more or keep it as it is? Some girls struggle getting the courage to ask a guy, so maybe the school should make it so there are more boys ask dances. However, this causes us to run into the same problem with the guys. So that’s the rant on Snowcoming this year. Talk to your peers about what they think about Snowcoming to get feedback so the school can know what the students like best.
