The Lady Wasps Dominate the Court
The Juab Girls Basketball Team Crushes the Competition
Tuesday evening the Juab girls basketball team delivered an impressive performance and swept away the competition by defeating the opposing team, the North Sanpete Hawks, on all three levels.
The gym was ecstatic as the Pit turned out in full force to support the team. The theme for the game was a returning favorite, “Adam Sandler.” Not only was there an exciting game theme, but there was also ice cream provided to students by the SBOs after the game. Jacob Rowley and Ethan Arns made their presence at the game known by cheering the loudest and winning fans of the game.
Although the game started slow with a score of 4-6 deficit for the Hawks at the end of the first quarter, the Wasps quickly picked it up and came out punching in the half. The Wasps dominated offensively and defensively in the third quarter. Our Juab girls scored 18 points in the third quarter in contrast to North Sanpete’s 4 points for the quarter.
The leading scorer for the Wasps was Hailee Hall, who had 17 points against the Hawks. Maggie Rosenbeck and Ashlyn Wright significantly added to the team’s score by scoring 9 points each. After a dominating performance by the Wasps, our girls basketball team won the game by 20 points with a final score of 46-26 for Juab.
The girls team is now a little over halfway through region play and is currently ranked second behind the Canyon View Falcons. Thursday’s road game against the Falcons promises to be a thrilling matchup as the girls aim to climb to the top of the rankings. With only five games left in regular season play, only two of them being home games, the team plans on hitting it hard at practice so they will be ready for the away game Thursday.
