It’s Just a Bunch of Hocus Pocus

Halloween and how to go about it

No one is ever too old to dress up. No matter what you may argue or what your age may be, you are never too old to dress silly one night a year and demand sweets. Maybe you’ll be given a trick, but no matter, it’s all worth it. Halloween, made for the mass production candy companies to have a huge jump in their sales—a good way to end the year. But in our hearts, Halloween is a time of spooks and chills and a reason to trespass.

Many houses go all out: decorations that groan and speak to you, flashing lights that distract you from the creep slowly lurching towards you, and of course, candy. Some houses hand out king-size candy bars. Others, small pouches are small trinkets. As high schoolers get older, it is important to remember the meaning of the season for our upperclassmen. A reason to scare kids.

Many of our Juab students may have worked on this spooky season. Others watched movies or went out for the night. The point is, you’re never too old for this horrifically fun holiday. You may have even noticed that teachers and staff dressed up. There was a bat theme among the school, which was very creative considering our most recent problem within the building.

We hope our students had a safe and fun night. We send our respect out to elementary school teachers who must deal with the sugar-high children. May they tackle the underground M&M scenes and snatch the chocolates before they melt in the kids’ grubby hands. To our high school teachers… we know you guys have some extras. Now would be a great time to start a reward system.

Motivation is dwindling. Throw some Skittles at us. From the Clarion to you, we hope you had a spooky fun Halloween. For those who dressed up, find your picture below. If you don’t see your picture but would like to add it, email us or send a DM through Instagram. JHS Clarion wishes you the best of luck as this year continues!
