Senior Year Deja Vu
Spot the difference: Kindergartener or Senior?
The seniors at Juab High School are rocking little kid backpacks for their last year. The kindergarten-esc backpacks have been lovingly nicknamed senior backpacks. With so many senior backpacks roaming the halls, I set out to find out why seniors are choosing such an impractical backpack for their final year of high school. To do this, I interviewed several seniors who were sporting an adorable senior backpack.

The first senior I interviewed, Porsha Oliver, chose her senior backpack because, “It is my last time (in high school), I want to relive my childhood, and I love Lightning McQueen.”

Jasmine Braich wanted a senior backpack because “it reminds me of kindergarten, and Jasmine is my name, so I thought it would be funny if my backpack matched.”
Although most people chose their backpack for the nostalgia, some people picked out their backpack because they think it looks awesome. Gabby Peterson said that she chose her backpack because “I picked a Lego Ninjago backpack because Cole is the best character, and I really wanted a senior backpack for my last year because it is nostalgic.”

Another senior, Kenzee Slater, said that she wanted her senior backpack because “I wanted it because it is Lego, it’s golden, and I wanted to look better than everyone else.”
Senior Jayme Cragun got her senior backpack because, “It is fun and goofy, and they are cheap.”
So what is the reason behind senior backpacks? After interviewing several seniors who have them, I decided that Juab High seniors want a little kid backpack because they are nostalgic, they look good, and it is funny to be carrying around all of your school supplies in a backpack meant for a five-year-old. The seniors at Juab High School express themselves by rocking an elementary school-style backpack in their classes every day.
