The Promising Athletics of Juab: And what we can expect from our athletes
by Jacob Rowley
The electric varsity atmosphere fills the air, we witness teams become champions. As all fall sports near the end, we can look forward to the amazing athletic upcoming seasons. I took it upon myself to go and interview five players from five of the upcoming Juab athletic competitions. I interviewed Gabe Settle, Ellisa Stoneman, Jhet Shepherd, Kash Olsen, and Cambry Hall. We asked each athlete what their team is doing now to prepare for the season and how promising the team is looking. Below is a list of the sports and athletes I interviewed.
First, I interviewed Gabe Settle from the boys basketball team. He said they were preparing for the season by “playing in a fall league.” Also, “open gyms twice a week.” He then said, “The team has been looking good.” I am personally on the team, and I can agree with the fact that we are looking good. We are working hard, and I believe that we will make it very far this year. Also, I interviewed outstanding senior Ellisa Stoneman from the girls basketball team. She explained how they were preparing for the season as “playing fall ball and holding open gyms.” She made it known to us that the team was “looking very promising.” I can see the rising talent in this team, and I believe in the promising words of Ellisa.
Next, I interviewed Jhet Shepherd from the boys wrestling team. He said that they are preparing for the upcoming season by “practicing every Tuesday.” Considering how we are 8-time state champions, I asked him how we were looking compared to previous years. All I received as an answer was, “Looking like another state championship.” Juab has developed its amazing program in wrestling, so I believe that we can win another one. On the other hand, I interviewed the incredible Kash Olsen from the soccer team. He told me the soccer team is “conditioning a lot.” He then told me, “We should get just as or even further than last year.” So I think we can expect good things from our amazing soccer team.
Lastly, I interviewed promising junior Cambry Hall from the girls track team. She said, “The girls team is really low on numbers.” Low numbers are never a good thing, especially in track. She was not proud to announce that her team is “not looking too good.” I think that even though we have small numbers, we are still good in the aspect of skill.
We should all be looking forward to this year of athletics. With these encouraging words from our outstanding athletes, we can expect great things. Let us sit back and watch as our incredible athletes bring honor to the name of Juab.
