Thrilling Winter Activities

Well Juab we did it, we all got through another year and have finally started the year of 2023. That’s pretty amazing considering we still have one semester until summer break. As we start to hop back into school after kicking off the new year, we all have a fresh start with new resolutions and plans. With it still being winter, what is there you can do?

A really calming and awesome activity to do is look at lights.  There are multiple places in Utah that hold big or small light shows that are awesome. One of the bigger and more known light shows is the Thanksgiving Point Luminaria light show. This light show is a mile walk with different attractions that just look stunning.  Some smaller ones are the provo light show, there is one in South Jordan, and Lehi.

One big thing in Utah this year is all the snow that we’ve been having come in. This gives a favorable amount of snow activities to do before it all melts away. One of the more known things you can do is snowboarding/skiing. With all the mountains that surround Utah we have multiple resorts and locations to go snowboarding or skiing. There is also a considerable amount of people that go here in Juab. So if you’ve done it before or have always wanted to try it you better go grab your board, or rent one, and head on up for some fun.

If you would prefer something just as fun but a little smaller and more around town, you could always go snow tubing. Some of the best places near Nephi would be out west. If you take the road that heads straight west towards Delta, you can pull off on any of the roads and there are great hills surrounding that you can walk up and ride all the way down.

If there’s something you would prefer to do inside instead, there are still a large amount of options. One of the easy but fun activities could be going ice skating in Provo. There is an indoor arena called the Peaks Ice Arena in Provo and there are many different times to go skating. All you need to do is look for a free skating time and show up. There you can rent ice skates, tie them up, and be on your way. If it’s your first time going, don’t worry, they have training walkers for rent.

There are many other things that are available to do during winter. This was just a way to get you started. Hope you have an adventurous time getting out in the snow.

Kyger Peay

Kyger Peay is one of the many juniors of Juab high school. This is his second year taking journalism, pushing to show off what JHS is all about. Kyger also takes part in track and is a part of the football team. In his free time he will either find him driving around with his friends having a good time, or hanging around at home.
