Girls Tennis and Their Seasons Smashing Successes

Girls tennis is coming to a close after another amazing season. They’ve brought home lots of wins and even a couple of medals. But it isn’t quite over yet.

Looking back at the St. George tennis tournament, held on the 8th-10th of September, was a major success for both JV and Varsity players. Almost everyone won medals ranging from 1st-3rd places, mostly first obviously.

Last week, on the 16th, JV had their big tournament. JV was close to winning 1st and 3rd places in upper JV doubles but with the heat and lots of close calls, medals were just out of reach. The two upper JV doubles ended up receiving fourth and fifth places. Lower JV, Kierra Pettit and Abby Guerra, won a second place medal. JV singles, Marietta Flake (10), won second place as well.

Tennis’ latest achievement happened on September 22nd. Varsity headed to North Sanpete for the region tournament. All of varsity won medals and will be advancing to state, which will be held on September 30th and october 1st. Competing in singles, Emmalee Wilmore (12), Emmie Lovell (11), and Hannah Echols (11) are all going to do great at state! Leah Thorn and Rylee Ludlow (11), Averee Hatfield and Emmy Fechner (11), and Nataya Day (10) and Lily Fechner (10) will all be competing in doubles and will also do great.

Make sure to wish everyone competing good luck at state!
