ProVita = For Life

It’s that time of the year again. Drill team tryouts are almost in full swing. If you are wanting to or planning on it here are some requirements and all about trying out.

       The first thing about trying out is that you should have some dance experience. Having dance experience will help you be better and grow as a dancer. You must have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA and no school attendance issues like sluffing or unexcused absences. If you have any of these problems you will not be able to dance. A strong work ethic is also essential; you need to be focused on completing tasks and have a good attitude. These things are very important to have on the drill team. We have a lot of practices and it is important to always be doing what you’re supposed to and it will be way easier.

       Now that we have all of that covered you may be wondering, what do we do at tryouts? As you know we do a military dance and a jazz dance. At tryouts you will be put in little groups of 4 and learn just a little bit of a military routine and a jazz routine. We will learn an across the floor combo which has turns, leaps, and kicks. Every little group of 4 will take the floor showing off their routines they learned. They will then each go individually and do the across the floor combo you learned. I know it may sound scary but it’s super fun and gets your adrenaline pumping. So when you are out on that floor do your best and put your heart into it.

       If you are interested in performing at JHS school events such as football and basketball games, which are super fun, and showing some school spirit come tryout! Tryouts will be March 21st at 6:00. Open gyms are the 14th-18th of march at 6:15-7:30 AM in the Jr. High Gym. If you want more information about open gyms or drill in general, you can talk to either drill coach or girls on the drill team and they would be happy to help.
