Trying Something New Every Week

It’s now a new year and everyone is doing their new year resolutions. I challenge you to try something new every week. This could include drawing, spending less time on your phone, making dinner every other night, etc.

If you don’t take the challenge you never know what you’re missing out on. You could be really good at drawing fish but you’re too scared to try drawing fish that you miss the opportunity. This challenge only lasts until the end of 2022 so start now and find what kind of person you are and want to be.

When trying something new you can improve your mental health, mainly depression. Depression is something everyone faces. You can break out of your comfort zone and help find yourself. When I say help find yourself I mean, finding your strengths, weaknesses, what you’re good at, what you’re not, something you enjoy, etc.

Don’t worry about being good at whatever you’re trying, it’s new. You don’t have to be good at it, after trying it once or maybe twice you can make a decision on whether you want to keep doing it or try something else.

When trying something new it can also help in the future. When in high school you’re too busy with college applications and homework, but when you take a step back and find something new then it can help with future decisions.

Like looking at career opportunities, you now know what you’re good at and what you’re not good at. Instead of becoming a professional artist and selling your work, you find out that you like photography better and can look into career paths.
