Mask Mandate

Going to Nebo Market, you can notice that no one is wearing masks. Even before the end of the mask mandate, there was a shocking amount of people that did not wear masks. This would be alarming, if not given the number of new cases we have in Juab. Our 7 day average has been low since the beginning of February, so it is understandable that people don’t wear masks.

But with the mask mandate ending, it begs the question. “When are we supposed to wear masks?” Here are a few answers.

In School: Until the end of the year. It is unclear whether we will be wearing them next year, but it’s doubtful. Unless there is a spike in cases or a new strain goes viral, it’s hard to believe that a mask mandate for school is justifiable next year. It’s safe to say that you can get your hopes up for next year.

In Local Businesses: As long as the signs are up. Businesses can require you to wear masks inside their store. This is even encouraged, since it’s better to be safe than sorry. Again, we don’t really know if all the local businesses will require this for much longer.

However, there is a lot of hope that this is over soon. Even with the new variants, vaccinations and herd immunity are a huge step, especially since we are almost back to normalcy. So be hopeful for the future. This is a leap in the right direction.
