How to be Funny

A lot of people have jokes that fall flat, and so here are some helpful tips to spice up your stand-up comedy so that you don’t have to sit down.

  1. Don’t use Your Mom jokes

Although these can sometimes be funny, they can get old rather fast and ruin a lot of relationships (particularly with the above mentioned). Instead save them for the legendary moments, and don’t say them too often.

  1. Use more Chuck Norris Jokes

I haven’t heard these in a while, so it would be great if they made a comeback. A good plus is that for the most part, they are pretty appropriate and suitable for school. Whether you are at home or school, look up “clean Chuck Norris Jokes” and you will have some laughs.

  1. Inside Jokes

Inside Jokes tighten friendships and have good mileage. But when all you talk about are these jokes, new members in your friend group can feel left out. Just be aware of those that are in your group, and use them on a case by case basis.

  1. Teasing

When done right, Teasing can bring family members together and provide a few good laughs for friends. When done wrong, you get called to the office for bullying. Don’t do it wrong.

  1. Changing your audience and not the joke

If you have a group of friends that you tell the same jokes to all of the time, you won’t get the laughs that you are expecting. Tell the jokes to a different group of people, or find new jokes that will stun your friends.

  1. Be a natural

Be yourself. Pretending to be someone else just to be funny isn’t worth it. I find that the quietest people can be the funniest when they are in the right atmosphere and with the right people.

With Valentine’s Day coming up, it’s always worth it to lighten the atmosphere during one of the most depressing days of the year. Make someone smile!
